Hi all,
I dunno if anyone have noticed this before and I am to lazy to search the forums, but here it goes;
Buy rocks.
Right click and move to alchemy maker.
Imbue with three different whatever.
Put the rock back in inventory.
IMPORTANT!!! Do not pool rock with the other rocks, or it will lose enchantments!
Left click the pile of rocks, click on enchanted rock.
Now, ALL ROCKS WILL HAVE THE ENCHANTMENTS!!!
Sell for crazy amount of gold (except one), buy more rocks, pool with enchanted rock.
Repeat ad infinitum.
Win.
(And might I suggest that this is fixed for Eschalon 3? Preferable not by making it impossible to enchant throwing weapons, but make it so that throwing weapons are sold for the unenchanted price, except for the last throwing weapon in the pile that goes for the enchanted price. Or make it like Diablo, where a throwing weapon have an "amount" and can be "repaired" (cheaply) - it will also make throwing weapons more competitive compared to the bow. Even better, you could create some Tors Hammers throwing weapon like in Realmz (weapon returns after throw). Or more eloquent, you see a sprite for throwing the weapon round one, and the next it returns, so it can be used only every other turn. This way, extremely powerful throwing weapons are sort of balanced, since you are forced to resort to unarmed every other turn. Moreover, throwing weapons when you are in melee range should be used as melee weapons - perhaps with a half dmg penalty but full chance to hit using whatever the weapon would count as as a melee weapon. For instance, spear = piercing, stone = crushing etc.

It has been noted that you can do this with stackable items, yes. I don't know what BW will do in terms of fixing it for Book III. It's a pretty minor bug, as things go.

This is fixed in Book 3. Only items that are 100% identical can be combined, so that they don't acquire each-others imbued bonuses.

How about enchant stack? And enchanting to stackable items only increase value by a tiny amount?BasiliskWrangler wrote:This is fixed in Book 3. Only items that are 100% identical can be combined, so that they don't acquire each-others imbued bonuses.
Because as is there is little reason to chose throwing over bows.
Or perhaps shuriken (like always 3 dmg better than comparable quality bows or somesuch) will be available from shopkeepers at a more expansive price than arrows but not a crazy more expensive?

Enchant stack? Em, probably not. It would just be another money machine.Leezar wrote:How about enchant stack? And enchanting to stackable items only increase value by a tiny amount?

The best benefit to Throwing over Bows is the ability to use a shield or carry a torch, which you cannot do with a bow. Also, if you properly max out a "Throwing Expert" with the ability to imbue items, that character can be insanely powerful. In Book III, throwing items will be a bit more affordable and there will be an expanded selection of items, making the Throwing Skill more attractive.

Re: Get unlimited gold
Just baby steps. I really want to get Thrown Weapons to be a more usable Skill. We've lowered the cost and weight of thrown weapons, while still keeping them fairly powerful. In terms of Imbuing Reagents, they are less rare and a bit more affordable now.Prismatic Maelstrom wrote:Unless you have made some changes we are currently unaware of for Book III the expense or the time required from the player to gather a vast amount of alchemy ingredients to imbue their thrown weapons does not make it worthwhile.
You are right- it's not practical to use dozens of +3 Harpoons for your normal fighting. But if you keep your eyes open at vendors for rare weapons and quality reagents, you can stockpile a nice collection of exotic thrown implements for the "big fights", then just use common Throwing Hatchets and Knives for your normal exploratory needs.
I had one tester that worked this idea, making a master Thrown Weapons/Alchemist/Merchant character. Min-maxing the proper Skills and Attributes, he was quite the badass in fights (flinging axes from a distance while hiding behind a large shield), but it was a challenging character to develop and maintain.
Re: Get unlimited gold
How about rebalancing demon oil instead? The initial damage if you hit should be big - since if you are hit you will be covered in burning ignition fuel - but the burning damage should be lower. Also, the intelligent creatures should not be afraid of the fire (or the extremely dumb, like zombies) to nerf it.
Demon oil comes at a weight of 0,4 so you can carry a shitload, but they are kind of expensive-ish and kind of difficult to find the ingredients for.

It would make a huge difference if throwing weapons were recoverable.
