Can you make potions/items that aren't found in books?

Just curious as to if there are some "unwritten" recipes in Eschalon. If not, this would be a great idea for an expansion or EB2. I've tried to figure out what potions use ash. It's an ingredient supposedly, but I can't remember using it for anything...

Same thing for the cotton wick... still have to find a recipe for it.....

cotton wick is used together with oil to refill a latern. Wich works just like all other recipes

so there are no way to mix a mystery potion? It'd be fun to be able to experiment and get some surprising results.

Oh you'll get some surprising results all right. (Look Ma, No Eyebrows!!)
(Try imbuing a ring, for instance).
(Save first, obviously!)

on the same line, any idea for the usage of skulls, femur, and ash pot ?

I did some testing but could only results in save vs fire ... luckily, I resits quite a lot
