First of all, LOVE this game. I'm not a hard-core gamer by any stretch of the imagination, but I've played all three episodes of Eschalon - I and II multiple times with different characters/skills. Couldn't wait for III to be released, and have spent hours playing, which is not my usual pastime. Ugh, so addicting!!
So, my current dilemma...
I've tried EVERYTHING I can think of but I am locked out of Seawarden's Guild and frustrated! I'm quite confident that I've progressed far enough in the game that I should be able to take on this challenge, if only I could figure out how to get inside the place!!
I even tried using an explosive barrel to blast through the front doors, which seem to be made of glass so you'd think they would shatter, but to no avail. I feel like an idiot, because I'm sure it's something obvious that I'm overlooking. HELP, please??

WELL, I think you need to pause and drink deep a couple of times to settle yourself down and the solution might occur to you.

Yes, I had already found the location you are referring to. I took care of the guard (he didn't drop anything) and tried to pull the bucket from the well. The first time it said something about the handle turning a couple of times and then stopping. When I click on the well again, it just says "This well has an odd hand crank. A chain attached to the crank wheel loops around a gear and decends into the dark well." (Pretty sure decends is supposed to be descends, but I get it.) However, nothing else happens. Is there a trick I'm still missing? Thanks for the help!!

Aha! I figured it out. As usual, go back, retrace your steps, try again, and persistence pays off. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

As always, it helps to look around.

Certainty: a character-driven, literary, turn-based mini-CRPG in which Vasek, legendary "Wandering Philosopher", seeks certainties in a cryptically insular, organic, critically layered city.
