what is the unskilled armor penalty?

Post by jinnes »

Hey:

Does anyone know what exactly is the effect of the unskilled armor penalty? The manual says the weapon penalty is a to-hit penalty, but it doesn't say what the unskilled armor penalty is.

Not a huge deal, but it should be in the manual.

Thanks!

You lose bonuses from your stats if you're wearing an armor type you're not skilled in - meaning, lower ToHit and lower armor class (yes, putting on armor you're not skilled in might actually lower your armor class).

you are only penalized once per type of unskilled armor. So, putting on multiple pieces alleviates the penalty (to the armor score).

This in effect means that you can ignore the penalties if you don't want to spend 3 skill points on an armor skill. Which is nice, but potentially unbalanced.

Don't spend 3 points, just learn to read...
