Is there any way to make him walk faster or run?

Not really. Some folks have found that playing in 16-bit color or playing in GL mode makes the character move a little faster.

16 or 32 bit doesn't change anything for me (at least for the demo). I haven't tried openGL.

A run command is not implemented in the game. It is one of the features we have requested for Book II.

Unavailability of 'run' mode makes game much slower... hope it'll be fixed...

I have fast computer, where CPU is not 100% utilised, so my steps are fastest as they are implemented by game engine.

Still, I find exploring empty areas between trees, on beach,... very boring. I would appreciate possibility to move faster - even with creatures, like be able to speed game by 2-8 times (compared to 60 times while camping - camping should add hp/mp-regen bonus, not only speedup game) so you could explore faster.
Should you encounter monsters, game will slowdown to 1x ratio, so you could resolve it.

Such speedup thereofe won't be "rpg-based", but "engine-based". Portal helps (a LOT), but is not sollution for empty areas. You know, nobody likes empty spots on map :)

Slow? You say SLOW? You ain't seen slow until you've compared between my new computer and my old one. The new puter feels too slow alot of the time. Then, you switch to the old puter

... ... ... s ... l ... o ... w ... ... ...

I keep expecting the special sound effects from "The Bionic Woman" to kick in. Wait, doesn't that mean I'm actually moving at super-human speeds? :P

but slow movement makes it more realistic! it's mostly boring thing to travel through the forest or desert in the real life... It should be so.. =)

I somehow think that if running is implemented wrong, it could break the game.

considering that Book I does not have quests where there are encounters in mid-travel between quests, and the creeps dont respawn per say..

I would suggest a Quick-Travel Beacon of sorts thats limited to one per map and can be re-deployed as many times as possible..

Personally, with the distance between areas and the ability to quick travel, I think the current speed is just fine. Running from one end of a map to the other in seconds rather than the 2 minutes it takes now would feel wrong.

Don't be in such a hurry to "beat" a game and enjoy the adventure.

But that's just me.

I feel the same. There could have been a quicktravel location in the southern areas. (giants village)

I think this is one of those things that will be improved for book 2....but the question is how do you improve it?

I think maybe a stamina system put in where you can run until your stamina is out? Add other means of transportation? Horses etc?

This all of course depends on the size of the world....which I hope I can convince Basilisk to make a couple times bigger at least;)

Yes, i mean if you hectically rush through all maps to get somewhere, all fights also become a nuisance and we would have a stupid actiony rpg again.

Options to speed up travelling should be
a. realistically implemented with in-game means (horses, carts, ferry services, mage guild teleporters, etc.)
b. temporary (potions, horse (which may die, or needs feeding?), spell)
c. eligible (if i wanted to, i should be able to crawl through the areas again.)
d. available only later into the game so that on one side you dont ruin the exploration and level design, and on the other side can skip endless wandering through known territory again. (i think thats the main point of criticism)
