After killing these things, the acid spray often times destroys my armour.
Question: Is the acid they "excrete" upon dying considered a toxin? If so, then raising strength and survival skills will reduce chance of armour being destroyed....see bottom of page 11 of manual.
Appreciate the answer, but I'm still curious as to original question: is their acid considered toxin, and if so, is raising the strength and survival a viable alternative to "distance" fighting.
BTW, I tried some magic on them, and every time those grubs roll a save against it.
Acid isn't considered a toxin, but *something* appears to grant resistance to it, because my high-level character never has equipment destroyed by them despite killing them in melee. I suspect the culprit is Armor Rating, as mine is maxed. They probably need to make a regular to-hit roll in order to destroy a piece of armor.
Fire Dart works real well on kegs of explosives. If you do not have that demon oil ( be careful! ) which can be thrown and of course archery. I have not tried any of the other thrown weapons, but they may work.
