how to set chest slider to 167

ehm, I've been trying to open chest west of grimmhold which, according to my quest book, should be opened by setting slider to 167. however, I can set slider to 164,165,166,168,170 etc. but there's no way I can set it to 167. When I set it to 166, left of 166 is 165, right of 166 is 168. There is no problem with my mouse/trackpoint/fingers. Any suggestion?

I've found this to be a problem on occassion. I just go to within a few numbers of the correct one and then lightly click one number at a time. Trying to just move the slider with your pointer normally brings up your problem. It can be tricky but it can be done.

you were right. I made a single lucky sweep 0 - 167 so I was lucky. Hopefully this will be fixed in Book II.

I had to adjust my mouse properties in the Windows Control Panel to operate one of those annoying chests. For Book II, I would suggest a scroll bar with arrows that move the pointer one number at a time when clicked.
