I finished the game

Post by quasimodo »

Its been a very long time since I have felt that I was sitting at the bull's eye of the target audience for a game. Lately the best I can generally do is hope the developer is using a shotgun and sends a few pellets my way. You know the recent game where the story and dialog scored a direct hit, but the combat system was aimed at someone else.

Well this game was aimed directly at me. There was nothing bad about it. I think the last RPG I felt that way about was Fallout. Now this does not mean this game is as good as Fallout. If I can continue to flog this dead analogy, the guys who made FO were using .50 cal ammo. I see Eschalon Book I as target practice for Basilisk Games and nobody but the gummint can afford to target practice with .50 cal. There are plenty of improvements that can be made in Book II, but I sure hope that am still sitting at the bull's eye when Basilisk breaks out the heavy weapons.

I hope that the slimes are in Book II. I really love the noises they make, its my favorite sound effect in the game. I find myself going out of my way to prolong combat with them just to hear them make their little noises.
