Weird bug: Boris the Conjuror!

Post by Jude »

I was creating a new character and thought I was lucky because I had pretty high stats. I had chosen everything but a name and placing a few skill points when I hit F3 to try to bring up the key command shortcuts list (I wanted to see if I could switch to windowed mode to check something in the manual).

As soon as I hit the F3 key, the character creation screen was replaced with the opening "storm" intro movie for a new game, then the new game location appeared, complete with a character. Expecting that my character had been started without having the last few skill points allocated, I was hoping that he wouldn't be bugged up because he didn't have a name.

But when I clicked the character info screen, I found he was "Boris the Conjurer" with completely different stats and skill than I had chosen for my unnamed, unfinished character! --(Mostly Elemental, with Divination & Bludgeoning Weapons--I can't remember the rest). I tried to take a screen shot but it didn't work, and I didn't save it, so I can't show you.

It's not a bug.

Unfortunately, you hit a "Premade Character" key. F1 through F5, on the Character Creation screen, creates pre-generated character packages. It actually mentions it on the screen on the "explain the function" text, I forget if you have to hold F12 to get it to show up or not.
Just wished Book I let you change the protagonist's gender--the story would only have needed a few pronoun changes, honestly.

...

Personally, I got around that with a custom portrait. Hilarity ensued.
