Re: Advice for a Ranger

I love the bows so I always seem to create a character who has one.
I add Unarmed Combat to deal with close fighting and chests and doors before getting Lock Picking under the kuudad sewers. I add a few spells as well. The Bows/Unarmed combo really works: by the time they're each at 10 I have a major weapon for both ranged and close-up. After 10 I pour my points into D&E Magic
Early game is spent getting enough cash to learn bow and foraging skills. Once I've added the Make Food spell, I've got a money making machine: use my Mana to make food, then rest and forage. Keep it up 'til I'm overloaded, fighting off thieves and wolves and gaining salable items from them. Buy foraging levels whenever I can, which increases the value of what I can find and sell. By the end of the mid-game I'm really strong and well outfitted. I take on most single Bore-heads with Unarmed as they aren't very strong and they turn off the stun when you're within reach.
I spend some time at the end of the Mid game in Kuudud finding a corner to camp and run the money machine so I can buy every skill Zeb sells. With hidden and silent maxed and 2 Hidden rings and a cloak, you can go anywhere and get everything: even Lord Brumbleton's treasure and Zeb's bow without having to fight him. clean them all out and you can buy some nice armor.
OK, after re-reading this, I can see I'm a Roguish Clerical Mage in Ranger's clothing.
