Help with Grimhold Maintenance Area

I am in the room with the three large salamanders and the chest. I opened the chest, killed the salamanders, recovered the contents of the chest, and went to leave the room and the gate is down. I have done all I can think to get out of the room, but to no avail.

Anyone have any hints?

There's a lever opening the gate in one of the small rooms that held the lizards, the middle one iirc.
