Step back from the powder barrel (so you won't get hurt), take your bow, press the shift key while klicking with the mouse on the barrel.

I found this to be a very efficient way to rid myself of the hive queen.

Do tell. =) I went up the left side and found some kegs but blowing them up doesn't seem to get me anything useful. Could you elaborate?
Thanks,

My guess is Martin lured the Queen to the vicinity of a barrel and then blew it up, HunterWare.

Likewise
I always find it fun to try to explode the most enemies in one shot.
My record is 3 thugs at the house on the Salted Coast
What is an Ameefmu?

In addition, you don't necessarily need to use a bow to do this. Thrown weapons and even thrown rocks will do as well. I would guess ranged magic, like the flame dart spell (or whatever it was called), would work as well - haven't tried it though.
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

I wish I had thought of that - I kept wounding her, running out of the cave, resting, and running back in. It worked, but it took a while.

It doesn't only work on the Hive Queen. Like Ameefu, you can do all sorts of damage with the gunpowder. Unlike him, I didn't try it on the Coast. Dang it, I've slugged it out with them every time. With my monk, my ranger, and a fighter.
Yes, ranged magic works too.

I did the queen and two bees with the trap in the cave, three mercs in the cave near blackwater(the divine ore quest),and a bunch of goblins(around 5 I think) in vela.

You can immolate Goblins and Tauraxes like anything in Vela by shooting Bombthugs...
