Indiana Jones

Post by BasiliskWrangler »

I'm taking the afternoon off from working on the game to go see the new Indy film! I would have seen the midnight showing last night but I just can't do that like I used to.

Well, here's my opinion on the movie if anyone is curious (very minor spoilers). Overall I somewhat enjoyed it but I had some serious issues with it as well...
Indiana Jones Opinion wrote:The action was good, but the characters were flat. Harrison Ford looked tired and old, and his dialog didn't have the wit or timing that it does in the earlier films. Sure, there were a couple good lines, but mostly the dialog was rather hokey. Same goes for Karen Allen's character (Marion). She's a firecracker in the first film and I was looking forward to seeing her again in Crystal Skull, but this time her character was totally different. She didn't look (or act) like the same woman who could beat a 300lb man at a drinking game. Most of her charm in the first film was that she was such a challenge for Indy- in Crystal Skull she just acted like one of Indy's students who has a crush on him, gazing at him with a big smile most of the time. Finally, I thought some scenes were ridiculous, specifically the "refrigerator scene"...come on, that was just badly conceived all around. Maybe if the refrigerator hadn't been thrown 500 meters, tumbling end-over-end, I could have more easily believed Indy could walk away from it. My verdict: C+

You know, honestly he wasn't that bad however I didn't think he was cast very good for the role. His character is supposed to be a motorcycle-riding, switchblade-carrying "tough guy" and he wasn't very convincing.

Hmm, I might go see if this weekend.

I loved the first one and the third, my least favorite was the second.

I wholeheartedly agree on the second one. Half the time I was praying for Kate Capshaw to just shut up and that annoying kid to disappear.

P.S. Loved the Crystal Skull. I didn't have much of a problem with Labouf either except his Marlon Brando schtick was a bit much. I still think he might be able to pull off another one with a few more years on his belt.

I have to agree with the above about the first three movies - 1 & 3 were good, 2 stank - I enjoyed 4 - but I honestly don't think they should make another Indiana Jones movie...Indy just wouldn't be Indy without Harrison Ford. I did think it was funny that "Mutt" named himself similarly to Indy - after a dog :D

I was there opening night, but alas, by midway through we couldn't keep from laughing. I don't expect "believable" when I go into an Indy movie, but this one was just too far over the top. Indy isn't a superhero.

6/10 and I was a sad panda :(
