Spiderweb Software!. They're my favorite. Interesting stories, involved interaction with NPC's (and the NPC's, unlike in Eschalon, are strongly involved in the narrative)... the games aren't as visually appealing as Eschalon is, but they're great fun to play. Go for Avernum 5 if you're into more generic fantasy magic/swordplay type games that allow for parties (it's much easier to play with a party but you can play solo if you want)... or pick Geneforge 4 if you prefer a more original game with a good story and plot that is also very essentially a fantasy magic/swordplay game. I'm more partial to the Geneforge series myself (and the game prompts regular discussions on the forums about genetics... how many games can you think of that can promote intellectual discussions involving scientific theories to explain game elements?), though I think the Avernum series is more popular. At any rate, download the demos (they're not big at all, although the games themselves are -- with Spiderweb it's substance over everything else. No highly animated cut scenes, no elaborate 3d animation... only the stuff that's truly important in a good game) and see what you think.

If you know about them already and are looking for another one... then I don't know. I myself am still looking for another isometric-type game that's as basically satisfying as Eschalon and the more recent Spiderweb games.

Well... maybe Neverwinter Nights... but the demo I played didn't give me enough of a glimpse into it, so I'm far from buying it... although if I were to pick among the games I've tried, I think Neverwinter Nights would be the one I'd go for. It has that annoying moving camera, but it still seems like a decent game.

A lot of people like the Baldur's Gate series... but I haven't been able to get into it.
Certainty: a character-driven, literary, turn-based mini-CRPG in which Vasek, legendary "Wandering Philosopher", seeks certainties in a cryptically insular, organic, critically layered city.
