help I cannot get to shaowmark level 2

I have explored shadowmark level 1 thoroughly and I can't get to level 2!

Get pass the portal part at level 1 and then when you get to the room with the teleporter circle and 2 chests, place a potion of ogre strength in the 'Give me Strength' one and a healing potion in the 'Ease my pain.' Then go into the teleporter and destroy the powder keg in the room and get the key inside it to open the door, and voila!
