Problems with quests (potential spoilers)
Hi,
My brother died in Vela. Somebody said that you could just go straight to Shadowmirk and talk to the guy at the top. I did that and the quest still didn't trigger. Can anybody suggest how I can get back "on track" in terms of the quests? This is a bit disappointing and takes some of the enjoyment out of my first time through the game. I would have thought this issue would have been addressed in a previous patch. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you gone to the Underground Repository in Blackwater and picked up the Crux of Ages and the sealed note that is with it yet? If you have not read that sealed note yet the game might not give you the quest from Erubor in Shadowmirk.

He must have had that note, Marty, or he wouldn't have known to look for his brother in Vela. However, you don't need to talk to Erubor to continue. Just take the key from his chest and go on to get the skull for the giants to get that last key. You may miss a little experience, but it should work.
Worse comes to worst, you kill the giants and take that last key.

Re: Problems with quests (potential spoilers)
Actually, I explored Vela long before I got to the repository. That's always the problem with non-linear games, you have to make sure everything works plausibly irrespective of the order in which one does it. In the case of Eschalon, I was quite impressed that pretty much everything worked, even with my somewhat erratic style of exploration. I think the only time I noticed an issue was when I'd fulfilled the conditions for a particular quest, and I was offered an "I've completed the quest - where's my reward?" style option before I'd actually accepted the quest.Kreador Freeaxe wrote:He must have had that note, Marty, or he wouldn't have known to look for his brother in Vela.
I seem to remember one of the NWN series being quite well done, in as much as if you'd already fulfilled the conditions for a quest by the time you were offered it, it would actually put up a special dialogue option, along the lines of "Actually, I've already done that", but tailored to the quest in question (so to speak). I thought that was a nice touch.

I had read the note and had the Crux of Ages. I don't think that's the problem.

Re: Problems with quests (potential spoilers)
This thread is almost a year old and there's been an update to version 1.05 since then, so the same bugs may not be present (I can't remember if this was one of the fixed bugs in that update or not).
