Why is it a crime to pick a lock on a door or chest unless you are silent and out of sight behind a door or hidden in shadow, but if you stand there and bash it down no one cares? Sure you lose the experience, but taking 50 or more blows with unarmed combat on a door in Aridell and the guard walks on by, but he will see you committing a crime unless you wait until dark and are careful when you take out a lock pick.
