Hey, so if a monster kills a NPC and your only save is...pretty far back...A quick and easy way would be to 'reload' or whatever that specific map, yes? I read somewhere a few times you guys giving instructions like so...It is harmless yes? It basically 'resets' it with no exploration etc? Now...That said..Say you reset it...How does it affect those sidequests..say..If you reset BORDERTOWN map?
Thanks!

Re: Quick Question
Inside your savegame directory, there's ten "slotN" directories, where N refers to the number of the slot that you've saved (1 is the quicksave slot, 10 is the last one in the list). Inside there, each map that you've visited has three files... For instance, you start out in map 35, so there's 35.map, 35.ent, and 35.opq. To "reset" a map, you'd go into the slot and remove the three files for the map you wanted to reset. It'd probably be best to make sure that your savegame doesn't have your character currently IN the map that you're resetting.
As far as how "safe" it is to do so, I really don't know... I imagine it's probably mostly fine-ish, though it's possible that some quest data might be a bit screwy when you interact with characters who are involved with the quest. I'd definitely recommend keeping a backup copy of the whole savegame folder before you try it, of course. If you didn't know which map was which, I've got a list available over here: http://apocalyptech.com/eschalon/map.php
Alternatively, my map editor would let you resurrect a dead NPC, if you wanted. :)

Re: Quick Question
Ah, yea that was one of the main reasons why I started getting interested in your editor. And, of course, boosting up Cartography to have a perfectly mapped world...Then lowering it again to what it was. =P
By the way...Did you get my email with my attached MAP files?

Heh - I've heard that that actually doesn't work so well - I guess that the map will slowly revert to the less-detailed version as you move around. I gather that's been fixed for Book II (or at least BW was aware of it). Anyway, lots of fun. :)dare49devil wrote:And, of course, boosting up Cartography to have a perfectly mapped world...Then lowering it again to what it was. =P
