acorn and mysterious cavern

Post by john »

I'm progressing in the game (level 11), even though my weapon (divine ore) when poof in a bout of acid. I just recovered the giant skull and was cleaning up a few quests prior to handing it over to the giants (I should note - perhaps bug - but I was able to take the key out of the chest without the giants being terribly upset - prior to fetching the skull but I figure I should be nice and fetch it for them anways).

Anyways I cannot find this acorn. It is suppose to be in southern tanglewood but below central/west tangle wood is northern cackmir (sp). I did find the graveyard which I hope leads me to the ranger's bow (the tree gave me the slider # after I return the flask) so I think perhaps maybe northern crackmir (sp) is really southern tanglewood but there are so many trees I have no clue where this acorn might be ... (is there a hint here ?)

Also just west of the area that contains this grave yard there is an area marked 'mysterious cavern' but it is very small and does not seem to have any doors or places for key holes. Am I missing something obvious or is it something used later in the game ?

There are several graveyards in the game but only two crypts, I expect your referring to the Ossuary which has a quick travel, uh statue (believe it's a cross) inside it's fence. If indeed I am correct in what your are referring to (verifiable by forest, I believe a mist/fog overlay but I might be remembering that wrong, and slow creepy yet almost playful background music) then that is located within southern tangletree and the acorn is somewhere on that map. Don't worry it's pretty obvious where it is when you see it.

I admit I got a little lost with that quest initially too.

Crakamir is almost all desert. Lots of trees is a good indicator of tangletree.

And the 'mysterious cavern', is it round or thin and long? If it's round then the exit is around in the center somewhere, if it's thin and long then you may need some kindling... I can't remember the location that's marked 'mysterious cavern'.

yes I am in the ossuary. I *thinik* I explored most of this map and did not see an obvious acorn-tree but will double check when I get home.

The mysterious cavern is one map west. It is not round basically that map has a single path that goes east to north west and you pass this cavern - it has two cards. It is called cavern but it looks man made.

"Unclever title," who replied to your question about the acorn, was correct - the tree is quite obvious when you find it, and it is on the same map as Tangletree Ossuary.

I was curious about the Mysterious Cavern and pulled up an old game. Yes, the cavern is partially man-made and it does figure in the game. In fact, if you have the quest for the acorn on your list you may also have the quest involving the Cavern on your list as well.

The puzzle allowing access to the back of the Cavern is doable - of course if you need a cheat you can always scan some of the old posts or beg for some help. I hate to post spoilers unless they are specifically requested........

The Burley Oak for the Acorn is off the path in the northwest part of the Ossuary map. So if you got tired of acid dying slugs, you might have skipped it. There is a message when you get near it.

The Mysterious Cave is one of those solve a puzzle to proceed places.
