Kamyran's Eye 2 re-visited:

Post by Rush »

Yes, this game has appeared upon these boards before (a long while back), but, well...I recently downloaded the full free version, and I am having quite a bit of fun playing it. I recommend it to anyone not currently immersed within any other RPG.

Sorry...to date, I have not found any walkthroughs, hints, tips, message boards, and/or cheats for the game, although...none of that is really needed if you give the game half a chance, and...you have a look over the documentation provided in game, look in the program's files upon your computer, and finally...have a look upon the creator's site.

Yep, tis good stuff. Glad I was able to help out with it a tad when it was making the transition to free/improved after Manifesto went under.

I popped in for a time at roguetemple.com, Getter77. Nice site. I bookmarked it so that I am able to spend more time there in the next few days and beyond.

Very cool that you helped out on Kamyran's Eye 2!

I discovered they have a beta version for the Mac. Doesn't work on my MacG4 but it does on my laptop. Big learning curve..at least for me. I need a pad of paper to write things down on. and Have to keep referring back to guide on how to do things. Thanks for the link. Something to while away the time till the best game comes out..Escalon2 of course. :D

Thanks! Roguetemple is a nifty place, even with as litle time I've been there. As my sig topic would indicate, I wasn't able to do anything along the most major of aspects to help out....but a bit of playtesting and helping to polish the English script is a start. Really hope to turn up the heat in the near future with learning how to utilize sound and graphic creation, not to mention programming, so I can make more and bigger differences in a great many games. The more spots my name can appear under in a game's credits---so much the better as that would indicate I'm becoming more potent at this whole endeavor.

Dragonlady: Be sure and drop them emails, as they do notice them, on any issues you run into with that Beta Mac version---so as to hopefully result in an improved non-Beta release somewhere down the line.

The only problem I have at the moment is getting killed. :D

No, there is on problem and haven't made up mind to write yet. Somewhere in the 'help'?? section it said you could get hints, tools and tips at "http://keye2.phk.at" I went there and saw absolutly nothing that mentioned tools or tips. No forums or discussions, etc.

Oh, what the blank is that chocolate bar for that the Fairy trades for?? Is it just food or is it needed later?
I also noticed you can't leave things behind to come back later for. Wish instructions had mentioned that!

Yep...I spoke too soon. Having played the game for quite a few hours, several days in a row, I too have a few questions which seem not to be covered within the help/manual or upon the site. I am still enjoying the game, tho. I emailed the "contact" address days ago, but have not as of yet received a reply. They must be busy--->no big deal.

Biggest pet peeve so far: Loosing entire towns/cities in the east (for example) because I chose to explore the western half of the map first---Oh, I guess I should add...the world map is randomized every time you choose to play a new game, and, new maps are always entirely blacked out. It takes exploration to reveal where you have been, verses where you have not.

Biggest curiosity so far: Wondering if I can somehow free the wandering slaves (including the animal variety) who attack me, in order to lead them back to towns/cities?---I discovered two non-slave wandering citizens and returned them to the nearest town, and likewise, gathered up wandering non-slave animals and have done the same.

Ah well...time to go back at it, lol.

I just gave up trying to do stuff like get some ore for a city from their mine. Came back up and it was destroyed and could not remember who I talked to, believe it was inside of one of the buildings. All the people I talked to weren't helpful so ended up selling it to the merchant who had hung around. While exploring the west, too, I found a pirate camp. Found two maps on the dead bodies. Sold one. 'Used' the other. When you use it, it makes the 'big' map show the entire shore line of the island. Very helpful when everything is black. I'm going to restart sometime soon. I'm up to level 30 something trying to be a 'thief'. Got a bow to start off with and wizBang with it now. :D

Thanks for the tip on map changing everytime you start a new character. I discovered that when I switched from mage to thief. At least now, after exploring a bit all over, I know what to look for even if it does change. I screen captured the map and printed it out.

Cool, DragonLady! I maxed out at level 50 yesterday as a Paladin, had the map totally explored surface wise, and did a few dungeons. I think, however, that I will start over again due to the fact that during my first attempts, I was given the staff thingy for rounding up animals, but missed the opportunity on this run through.

To get the staff thingy, if anyone is curious...I believe you have to get to one of the farms before they are destroyed, then talk to a specific farmer. Why get it? (shrugs)---to raise your game score, I imagine.

I think I will cheat (grins) when I restart. I will save...then head in a random direction in order to explore for a time. If I do not encounter one of the farms after awhile...I will reload the same game from the save, and head in another direction, etc...

Oh, random thoughts here...if anyone is interested...do not forget to open your quest page, in game, click upon talents, and assign your three priority bonus X's.

Also, remember to check the mountains...I walked through one and found a merchant selling good stuff...and check the dungeon walls...which I have not tried yet, ha!

On my laptop I press 3 keys at once: Option, shift and #4 keys.
On my desktop G4, I press: Option, shift, #3. I then trim it down to just the map using GraphicConverter program.

I noticed the potion formula's change too. It took me the longest time, 2nd time around, to find mushrooms and little squiggly things that you ..oh yeah, skullmoss. No healing potions till I was almost 30th level! :x

Your idea of save and search for a while and start from save is a good idea. Especially when trying to find the dang council town!

I, too, tonight found the merchant in the mountains. I thought it was the Grotto, as that was marked on the big map. Turns out I had to travel down a river, cross on stones and then back up the river to get to the grotto. :)

Staff??? I;ve found a farming setting but nothing mentioned about a staff. I've Managed to break an Orc totem and am looking for oblisks stuff, not to mention other cities/towns, etc. :)

The staff is hooked, and called a "crook." I found that I can pick it up at either/or...Riet, or Ven farm. You have to talk to the right person in either farm roughly a gazillion times. Eventually, you end up with the dialog which will give you the crook, provided you accept the task in retrieving cows. Then explore a bit, or remember where you saw some and then equip the crook. The cows will follow you to any farm, town or city.

Yep, the quests are frustrating. Most of the time there is no one left to reward you once you complete them. I am still thinking (wishful thinking, that is) that somehow after you free the slaves and the cows which attack you, that you might be able to lead them to farms, towns and/or cities as a way of repopulating.

Heh, somewhat intentional I reckon, the game still holds many of the secrets. The interesting bits are the things that CAN happen, possibly leading you to ruin, but still making you wonder just what else is possible. For example, those destroyed towns and such that happen? Yeah, you can actually wind up taking part in said large scale battles and change the outcome should you happen upon them in time and manage to survive. Freeing slaves? Yeah...you can actually wind up BECOMING enslaved yourself, which opens up some weird avenues outright as well as changes the flavor of one of the quests.

Chocolate, IIRC, can be eaten for an MP boost...but otherwise it can DEFINITELY be sold for a rather large chunk of early game gold in town---leading some people to try to luck out and chocolate farm when they can for a good income source.

Quests give EXP as the game is actually set up in part to discourage endless grinding and rather favor a "variety" of experiences in terms of what you fight, find, quests you undertake, and so on. They count for your death and victory scenes and there's a good amount of them. Dungeon wise, according to my talks with the developers, they're pretty sure some have remained hidden/rare to players even after all this time since the game came out. They are based out of somewhere in Eastern Europe IIRC, so there's usually some delay on emails on top of them working on other bits.

Also, as it plays/is a bit decent, you'd also do well to check out Kamyran's Eye 1 which they made free awhile before this one.

Thanks, getter77. Great information!

I did not know that Kamyran's Eye 1 could be played upon the computer. I thought it was just for mobile or some such. I am definitely interested in playing it.

I did get a reply this morning from my email to the site. It was very helpful/informative and also answered my question regarding slaves...human and/or cow. No...you can not save or free them. Ah well, I will still have fun playing.

Time to head out into the real world for a bit. It's friggin' 37 degrees out there. What the...?

thanks for all the information. I'd run across cows in the wilderness and the first few times thought I was near a village. But, no..no villages. sigh. The retalking over and over is an interesting thing to do. I did that a few times but didn't make the connection to keep on doing it.
