2009 - was it all you hoped it would be?

Post by BasiliskWrangler »

Other than missing our planned 2009 release date for Book II, everything went pretty well here this year. 2010 looks to be busy with the release of Book II and announcements of other project(s).

Anyone else have any comments on 2009/2010?

2009 wasn't too bad, just too much politics in the news all the time. And since '09 is just about toast, might as well look forward to 2010. Should be a good year, Book II and a few other games to play, interesting projects coming up at my job, sounds like fun

I wasn't in the hospital for surprise stays in 2009, like I was the previous 2 years. So, yes 2009 was pretty good for me. :) I'm looking forward to 2010 cause Book 2 will be out and lots of new books coming for me to read. The game I run is going fine...DM wise that is  and players are having a miserable time trying to fight gargoyles on a roof at midnight with peasoup fog. Oh, and the roof has holes in it and is on a 3 story building.

Do you make them check to see if they are hitting each other instead of the gargoyles? It still doesn't seem that bad. There could be slimes waiting below.

Only those idiots shooting arrows at close range. :D At the moment not all of the gargoyles are in the fight. Building is 55x40' so they can't see furthur than 15' for those who have Continual light gems hung around their necks. One person cast Light on a gargoyle but it made its save and now some of the fog is lite up. One other hazard is the roof is strewn with body parts the gargoyles tore off the victims they'd killed for the last 2 months. Rotten pieces and slippery blood globs, even if it did rain, there's still lots of gore and stench. One of the Bards is singing her heart out and as of last round all the gargoyles are listening to her. She put in a "Suggestion" into the song and 2 of the known 4 were frozen in place. Unfortunately the one in the air got caught by the spell and fell....down thru the open bit of the roof and a couple of stories below. They don't know if it survived the fall.

It's not too bad if they keep their heads, listen to the others (like the bard telling them not to hit) and make their dex rolls if they move on the roof.

"Who, Mawh?"

I got the idea from an old TSR book on adventures. It was a 2 page synopsis where DM could put in any of their own city details and expand on the adventure. At the moment can't recall the name of the book. It (2 page adventure) was called "Gargoyles" :) A murder mystery. People disappear and players have to find out why, where and who done it.

edit: The book I got it from is: "AD&D Game Accessory - The Book of Lairs" Pages 78 & 79. I have it in pdf as well as tons, well a lot of other old game books, mods, etc. on pdf. :)

I discovered Eschalon Book 1 in 2009, and am looking forward to Book 2 in 2010! :D

On a personal note, I finished development for 2 new games last year, both of which are selling fairly well for me, and my indie game business is growing (I doubled my sales volume from last year). I also survived pneumonia (though it took 2-3 months to fully recover). So 2009 was a pretty good year for me.

I'm hoping to avoid further illness in 2010 and go full-time indie in June!

Hope you have a great year, BW!

All that . . . and you still have time for the kids?

Sounds great... Congrats & good luck for 2010!

2009 was all I expected, and more!

Heh! My real kid happens to be 39 and he takes care of me. Cooks, cleans, shops, drives me places, etc. Okay, the clean house part isn't well done, but heck its free! :D He lives with us now.

So... which of the two interpretive perspectives has his girlfriend taken on this?

Just kidding.

So, who is this mysterious son, anyhow, who beta tests Spiderweb games? Does he ever post on this forum?

Is it Randomizer? It's Randomizer, isn't it? I knew it!

(Incidentally, Randomizer happens to be among the very, very few people from my days on the Spiderweb forums that I had true respect for. I could count these people on a hand. It's nice to see somebody like him as faithful to Eschalon as he is to the Spiderweb games.)

No, at least not that I know of. I can't recall what his Spiderweb name is. He doesn't have his name on the list of beta testers. I keep asking him to but he won't. Don't know why. He is over on Order of the Stick a lot and other places I don't visit. Maybe I'll ask him what his spiderweb forum name is and let you know. He does come here once in a while but doesn't post. Or so he says. :)

2009 was OK, pretty busy though

Hopefully 2010 will be a bit more laid back

EDIT: I'm not Dragonladys son either, for the record. The plot thickens!

Heh, heh! :D

Okay, I have it straight from the ..umm..kids mouth. He hasn't made an account here, thus never posted AND he says he hasn't posted at Spiderweb for over 5 years. Did 7 years ago when he saw the open casting call for beta testers and has been doing it ever since when he got accepted.

Of course any of you who like (and not to kill, please) dragons could be my adopted offspring.
