Proving Chamber

Post by Llyd »

Hi guys,

I'm having a bit of an issue in shadowmirk's proving chamber. The problem occurred after I "reset" the area by deleting the corresponding files in the savegame folder. After defeating the lizards and raptor in the chamber - iirc - one is supposed to open the gate at the far end by using the lever in the cage, where the raptor was held. My problem is, that said lever is missing. All I can see on the ground are some differently colored floor tiles. I did not encounter any kind of problem the first time I went through that chamber.
After looking at the savegame-files with an editor, I found a couple of text entries for different levers. Is it possible to manually restore the lever by editing the files? Anyone encountered something similar?

I think you're confusing two chambers that you get locked into. In Shadowmirk, the cages release the monsters when you pull the lever in the middle of the room, and the outer gates open when the three creatures are dead. If you reset the gates and it didn't respawn the noximanders and raptor, I'm not sure how you'd get the gate open. I've never tried that.

OK, then did not remember correctly... Anyway, the outer gates that leads to the stair to lvl3 did not open after I killed the three monsters. Everything else in Shadowmirk did work as intended after the reset.

Nobody any idea why this gate doesn't open after the three monsters are taken care of?

It's been a while, but look around for a lever or pressure plate. I can't remember after so long.

I did. There's a lever in the middle of the room, which - when activated - releases the monsters into the chamber. After disposing of them, the gate which let's you out of the room is supposed to open, but it doesn't.

Hmmmm, it strikes me that you have a real problem and will probably have to restore from an earlier backup. The only way up to see the wizard is to go through the pen where the raptor was living. If you can't get through you really can't finish the game...........
