Tom the Fighter
Chapter Two: First Blood

He was looking at a two-story building in front of him when something pierced his sandals. He looked down to see a very large, red, fanged lizard next to him. He managed to sidestep right in time to avoid another attack. With the lizard off-balance, he striked it with his sword. The blade made contact with the animal's skin, which let out a loud scream, and blood began to pour from the wound. The lizard suddenly counterattacked with success, piercing his skin with its fangs, and now they were both bleeding. He struck the lizard once more in its head, and the now dying salamander fell to the floor. "What's this? What the hell is going on here!?" he repeatedly asked. The street he was standing on was a dead-end. He entered a small building on his right, and found a chest inside a closet. "Well, let's see what's in here" he said, as he opened the closet. He found 40 gold pieces inside. "Let's see what can I buy with this" he thought, as he picked up the gold. The eastern wall was missing, and he could see a path leading to some crossroads. He went out through that missing wall, and he caught sight of a sign. It was faded and overgrown, and upon closer inspection he managed to read it: "Elderhollow". After reading it, he followed this path until reaching the crossroads. There was a faded signpost which indicated Aridell was at the northeast. He took the northeastern path, but after some steps he found not one, but two giant lizards. He briefly thought "Should I run or fight?" before choosing the second choice. He easily disposed the first one, which didn't even harm him, but the second one gave him some trouble. It pierced his legs twice, but he was able to stand to his wounds and finally kill it. He caught sight of a nearby bridge, and crossed it. He finally reached an intersection. To the north, he could only see a path that got gradually lost in the forest. When he looked to the east, he saw the entrance to what appeared to be a small town, so he decided to go east. A nearby sign claimed this town to be "Aridell". "I finally made it. Now I've gotta find this Maddock guy. Shouldn't be hard... there are only a few people in here..." he said, as he examined this little town...
