Well I love games, the Art the Music the game play but I also like the Goodies you can get with some games like in special/collectors editions - games like "Empire: total War" , "Warhammer online" , "Aliens Vs Predator" and Bioshock 2 too name just a few.
Well I got bioshock 2 Special Edition ( check contents here ) and just loved it - the Artbook the record the Music CD and the Posters - I was looking at the Posters and thinking what the hell can I do with these and not Wreck them - so being a Complete Nut I did this.
In case you are wondering it's Professionally Mounted (Not Glued down the poster can be removed undamaged) with wooden Frame,Glass etc - this was the test Framing to see how it looked so now I'm getting the other 2 mounted just the same - what do you think.
Anyone else done similar things to gaming Goodies or is it Just me
I actually did this with the Boris V. print I received with Demise: Rise of the Kutan back in ... 2000. Had a friend who worked at the shop, helped me select the colors for the matting and frame. Looks awesome, though I did spend a pretty penny on it
I stopped getting collector's stuff because I had nowhere to put it and it just ended up getting thrown away every time I moved. With the rising cost of games, the collector's editions are getting a bit out of hand, imho.
I agree with Bernie... you get to the point in life when you don't own your stuff, your stuff owns you! Although I do prize my original Ultima I and Ultima II 5.25" disks.... now those are collectible!
The only thing I think I can say I "collect", these days, is books. Music doesn't count: sure I have tons of CD's . . . and I also, of course, have dvd's (though not many, they're expensive, and a lot of my favorite movies are just not available) . . . since they get regular use. And games, obviously, which also don't count as collections.
Books I collect for 1. the sake of having 2. the ability to refer to them whenever I want to go back and read a passage I remember or want to show someone, and 3. to lend to people. DVD's only receive use once in a while so if I had lots of money and were buying lots of DVD's I suppose I'd call that a collection, too.
Well... I do have lots of movies on VHS . . . I suppose you could call that a 'collection' . . . except that I don't record movies on VHS any longer, much less own a VCR (my last VCR broke and I never replaced it) . . . I do have a whole bunch of cool shorts on those tapes, and a variety of TV clips which aren't on the labels because they're meant to be a 'surprise' when you run into them.
But, yes, I love books -- paperbacks much more than hardcover. I don't know why; it's not because I'm a writer, I just love books, for some reason. I have shelves and shelves of them.
But the idea of owning 'special' copies of something just to have that special copy? Not for me.
Certainty: a character-driven, literary, turn-based mini-CRPG in which Vasek, legendary "Wandering Philosopher", seeks certainties in a cryptically insular, organic, critically layered city.
i've never really gotten any collector's edition but i'll be buying the EB collectors edition if BW decides to make one that includes the whole three games with posters and maps and other stuff
P.s : excuse my bad English
Didn't reach my expectations (Eschalon Book 3)>> But Still, A Great Game nevertheless
