I think I'm missing something obvious here. My PC has just learned the LORE spell and I can't figure out how to get it to work. Whenever I right click to cast it I get a message saying "the target is obscured" as when you cast an offensive spell at a creature to whom you have no current line of sight. I thought perhaps I had to cast it directly on the object to be identified but right clicking on an object in my inventory simply picks up the item (or uses it if it is a potion, etc).
How do I cast this thing?

Re: Lore Spell Question
Lore is for identifying unknown items in your inventory.AgentTBC wrote:I think I'm missing something obvious here. My PC has just learned the LORE spell and I can't figure out how to get it to work. Re: Lore Spell Question
Yeah, I know. I have unknown items in my inventory but I can't cast the spell. It always says "the target is obscured" or whatever. I've tried casting it from the main screen and casting it directly on the unknown item, but right-clicking on the unknown item just picks it up,

Re: Lore Spell Question
You should be in inventory screen and right click to cast the spell on the item. I never had any trouble doing so.

Re: Lore Spell Question
Your more careful than some of us. I can remember thinking I had clicked on it and my mouse hadn't really connected so I got the message mentioned. Especially when I discovered I needed to 'up' the level of the spell when I tried a lower level at first casting.Randomizer wrote:You should be in inventory screen and right click to cast the spell on the item. Re: Lore Spell Question
I'm 99% sure this IS a bug. I just tried casting Lore a few times and:
1) when the spell was (on purpose) cast outside the inventory, I got the "target is obscured" message, instead of "this spell must be cast on an inventory item"
2) when I right-clicked on an "unknown" inventory item, e.g. a potion, the equipment menu appeared and the item was "taken by the cursor" (I'm sure you know what I mean).
What's important, I made a save game to report this, but 1) quick travel to Kuudad solved the issue and 2) reloading didn't bring the probleck back.
I've cast Lore dozens of times and I'm 100% sure I WAS trying to cast it, since I had already read this thread and knew some people had similar problems before.
