Yea I know I have hogged alot of posts on this forum, but thats what its for right?
Anyway, I just started playing Lands of Lore a few days ago. I played the Eye of the Beholder games a long time ago and loved them and since this was made by the same company and regarded by many as the superior game I thought I would give it a go.
I really like the look and feel of the game, great graphics for the time and great atmosphere. The gameplay is a bit linear for me and the combat is real time, but not as bad of a click fest as modern action RPG's.
What do you all think about this game?

Very cool, I hope your games do well and you can keep making them for a long time! I also really liked the Eye of the Beholder games, played them when they came out. I remember liking EOB 1 the best, but I think thats because it was something new when it came out, but now I am going to go back and replay them and decide whether I like part 2 better.BasiliskWrangler wrote:I played it through several times and liked it quite a bit. I enjoy the "pseudo 3D" RPG engines (Eye of the Beholder, Dungeon Master, Lands of Lore, Might & Magic 1-6) immensely and Basilisk Games most certainly has plans to create a game using that type of engine....
I just bought the original box and manual for all 3 games on ebay, Im becoming a bit of an old school game collector.
Yea thats one of the nice feature's of playing the old games now, no disk swapping or load times.Gothmog wrote:I remember playing EOB 1 on the amiga. I loved the game, but the amount of diskette-changing was annoying. The amiga-version got about 6 to 8 disks.
Good old times
I remember playing Pool of Radiance back on my C-64 and constantly swapping disks, that was a pain but we didnt know any better at the time.
I though Lands of Lore (#1) was an excellent game - what EOB#3 should have been. However Lands of Lore went downhill just like EOB did - Lol#2 was technically better, (engine wise) but the gameplay was nowhere near as good, and Lol#3 was purely dreadful (IMO).
There were a few things in LoL#1 which were a bit of a pain - having your weapons magicked away, and those (almost) unkillable ghosts which show up later. And the blocked entry to where you need to go. I vaguely recall you lose the map at some point too (or was that LOL#2?).

I love these pseudo3D RPGs (and yes, I began with EOB1 on amiga too
) Believe it or not, Lands of Lore 1 was one of the main reasons for me to swich from amiga to PC, I simply HAD to play this EOB follow-up.
Lands of lore 1 was fantastic, probably the pinnacle of pseudo3D RPGs. LoL 2 was full 3D, and I didn't like it . When I saw the screenshots for LoL3, I knew it would suck (flashy pink, yellow or purple backgrounds, and seemingly no improvement in graphics. I seem to recall it flopped big time)
