Could auto-sort be added to Expansion and/or Book III?

Post by tungprc »

I'm a compulsive collector so I'd love it if I could autosort my alchemy ingredients, weapons, armor, rings, etc from each other. Unknown items should go at the end of each subsection or at the bottom. If our virtual backpack had sections, that'd be cool too. Little tabs that allowed us to seperate our food from our bloody weapons. Hmmm, that last bit of dried meat had some dwarf entrails on it.....yuk!

Those dwarf entrails are quite tasty if you remember to use the exotic spices on them before cooking.

It got discussed during beta testing, not the dwarf entrails, and the view was that players have too many different ways they like to keep inventory sorted. Some want the most used items near the top and have their own systems for deciding which items go in what order. So it wasn't worth adding this feature.

I agree - I have my own system for sorting (generally, alchemical reagents go near the top! ), and I wouldn't want a "sorting" order "imposed" on me (unless it was an optional feature).

That said, I still would like it if, in Book III, a separate inventory for food (and water?), could be created - the so-called "food bag"... :)

Yeah, I agree. I actually keep the items I use near the bottom so that they don't get mixed in with the loot I'm picking up. I'm sure that for every ten people you ask, you'll find nine different inventory management schemes.

Same here. Loot to sell at the top, unidentified items next and then things I use and last line is for things like Darus arrow and other objects I'm questing answers about plus lockpicks and Merchant hat and alchemy rings that I only use once in a while. Potions go in the slots on the right side of the screen, at least those I use a lot! :D

I have my own item sorting system...

...but only because the alternative is to keep items completely unsorted.

Maybe a sort button that people can choose to click on, that sorts their inventory? So not quite auto sort.
