when i killed the ranger which was supposed to give me certain key - she dropped it on an unaccessible place-inside her house near the (south-west) wall.on the opposite site of that wall is an torch. I couldn´t see the loot bag nor grab the key.I tried around quite a while and reloaded the game from before the fight with the ranger- so not a big deal but i thought i´d point it out anyway.
or maybe there is some way to highlight obscured items ?

Re: key falls on dead spot
This issue has been reported on multiple occasions. I don't know that BW has any plans to fix it, and I'm not sure what a fix would entail exactly.
In addition to reloading the game, you can also just ignore the key and get into Hammerlorne some other way - there's another copy elsewhere, or you could pick/bash/lockmelt the door. In a pinch, you can remove the map files for the area which resets it to its initial configuration.

in this particular case i guess it would be enough to eliminate two torches from the front-wall of the rangers-house.In my case i was expecting the key to be in one of the containers of the house.but since i saw an quick shimmer when the ranger died i figured that she dropped a lot-bag.
Anyway-if an item turns unaccessible if it drops in the "click-area" of an torch it can be quite frustrating for the player-since he may ignore what he is missing at all-and go on searching around-but without success.I think this should be considered a bug.loot bags (specially with important items) should not simply disappear into walls.
It is good that there are multiple ways to solve an problem.mentioning/hinting this somehow in the mission-briefings could be helpful.Or maybe mission success-failure messages, like : "you failed to obtain the key from the ranger - find an different way to enter the dwarf-mines" .... maybe an fancy mission-message system like that could be an idea for book 3....

Re: key falls on dead spot
Rather than removing the outside torches, I think it would be easier for BW to put an end-table in that corner to keep Sparrow and her loot bag from getting into interference range with the sconce.

But as I pointed out in the suggestions for 1.05 thread over in the Windows Support forum, some game mechanic needs to be revised and implemented (presumably in Book III) to better handle these situations though, as the Sparrow thing is not the only place it can happen - it can happen with Gammen as well, and even happens to some extent with torches/NPCs/open doors overlapping and conflicting.Kreador Freeaxe wrote:Rather than removing the outside torches, I think it would be easier for BW to put an end-table in that corner to keep Sparrow and her loot bag from getting into interference range with the sconce.
Yeah, there are sneaky map design ways around many of these situations.
Still, the better solution, ultimately, is for the game engine to be revised to better handle these conflicting/overlapping item highlighting situations...
