Does dodge help evade Missile attacks?

Does dodge help evade Missile attacks?
I have a question about giving my archer dodge from a skill book in town. If i use dodge and say am having a fight with another archer, i know that the counterattack doesn't work, but will i still dodge their attack to run away and or get in a better position. (Also including magic missile attacks?)
