The commandments for RPG survival

Help me! Make a list of useful RPG survival commandments.

I will start:

1. Save is your best friend!
2. Do not get so caught up that you forget your best friend!
3. Thou shalt not forget the heal, cure disease, and deox potions
(if you are a magic user learn the spells.)
4. Low on money, need healing, Thou shalt sell that magic item!
(Unless it is a quest item!)

Add your own commandments or improve on mine I do not mind!

(RL survival is just as important)

Time passes faster when playing this RPG.

No really.

An intent to get to bed in one hour (just a bit more of this map to complete) turns into an unnoticed 4 hour session (what the? Its 2:30AM and I have to get up at 6:00AM!!!)
