Local Markers? +Player's Manual Suggestion

Post by Tecknomage »

The Players Manual mentions "local marker" for Fast Travel.

Problem, the manual has no pics of what things look like.

So, what does a Fast Travel Marker look like?

I ask because, outside of Elderhollow I found a place whit 2 braziers & a hex-star on the floor (place for ceremonies?) but I cannot touch it to "activate" it IF this is a marker.

SUGGESTION: The manual needs to include pics of every item and such in the game, like a pic of a Fast Travel Marker.

Other RPGs I play, the manual has pics of everything; weapons, armor, items, special symbols, etc.

Where is the fun in that? The idea of role-playing is exploration and discovery. The local makers are the big black markers that look like a pyramid, but flat at the top (except for the one at Loneloft which is broken). You have to click on them to add them to the quick travel menu.

Especially some of the classic games had very in-descript manuals. You figured these things out. I think today's tutorial laden hand holding games have dumbed us down. People complain about Mass Effect dropping you in without a proper tutorial, play around a little, get a feel for it, you'll figure it out. That's just me, I like a little spice in my RPG life.

It'd be almost impossible to miss the marker for Aridell unless you click through text without reading it. When you get within a few squares of the town, you get a sound and a message that scrolls on the screen, telling you to click on the town marker. It is possible to enter town via the river though, so you could miss that sign if you did that.

Tecknomage, I think you'd love Dungeon Siege 1. I hope you've played it.
