Re: Home again...or not?
Well, we can agree to disagree! Since the food and water requirement will be optional it is a win win situation. I will be turning on probably all the options. I especially like the food/water requirement. I believe it adds to the story and makes you plan your trips through hostile environments. I b...

Re: RPG Programs
Hello everyone, In my humble opinion NWN2 and its expansion Mask of the Betrayer are excellent (Storm of Zehir is a different matter.). The game is linear, but the story and character development is excellent. The game is not as open ended as Morrowind or Oblivion where you can leave the main story ...

Re: New Eschalon Interview
Excellent review! Rune_74. The questions were well thought out. BW responses were straight and to the point. BW also proves the old adage: Neccessity is the mother of Invention.

Re: Realism in RPG's
The point is atmosphere. I'm not a big fan of weather affecting character performance. As long as its kept to special areas that are supposed to be a challenge, I can deal with it. But walking around in a normal area and having a blizzard show up and allow for some easy monsters to end up kicking m...

Re: Realism in RPG's
I agree that too much realism can take you out of that fantasy feel. But, it depends on the game. A game like Mount and Blade has realism is designed into the game. There is no such item as a healing potion. Also you will not find fire breathing dragons. So if you purchase Mount and Blade one would ...

You break your hand and a piece of bone flies out piercing your eye. You are blind in one eye with a broken hand and the minotuar just caught your scent.

Re: New Features of Book II
I do not mind weapon or armor degradation as long as there is an armorer skill and tools I can use to fix the weapon or armor.

Very nice! The music is in the same mode as Book I and I thought Book I had a lovely soundtrack. Look forward to hearing the other music and sound effects of Book II.

Re: Abandonia
The PC (IBM and other clones) were limited in the resolution and colors that could be displayed. The games for the PC were usually set at the lowest common hardware specifications. The computers by the other companies (Atari, Commodore, Apple) used custom chips to display graphics and produce sound....

Re: Home again...or not?
The Alternate Reality series (City and Dungeon) used food and water in an interesting way. Your character had to carry water flasks and food packets. If your character ran out of water or food , your character's attributes (stats) would start to decline. Failure to sleep and your character's fatigue...

Re: News Item: December 31, 2008 - Thanks for a great year!
Happy New Year to all!!! Do not worry BW! The question is did Eschalon Book I do well as a first time offering from your company? It is not unusal to plow most of the profits back into the company to make the next product. I know there were sales expectations, but it seems the game was successful en...
