Except that the cloak doesnt work if you dont have at least one point in hide in shadows.Maelstrom wrote:Don't bother investing in hide in shadows. There's a cloak that grants 3 points that shows up regularly once I get to blackwater. Additionally, I am almost positive I read a book of shadows at one point.

That's funny. I seem to recall it working just fine and then finding a book of shadows. Maybe it was the other way round?Daemian Lucifer wrote:Except that the cloak doesnt work if you dont have at least one point in hide in shadows.Maelstrom wrote:Don't bother investing in hide in shadows. I can confirm that the cloak doesn't work if you have 0 ranks in Hide in Shadows. I got it and wore it; my character sheet showed 3 ranks, but I still couldn't hide.
My min-maxer just hit 6. I found a Light Armor Field Guide and I'm wearing the amulet that gives +3 to Cleaving, so I can use weapons and armor with no unskilled penalties. Next level, I'll be done raising Perception to 40. Then, I'll put some much-needed points into Strength and Dex (currently at 10 and 14) before getting Int and Wis to 20 (from 12 and 14). Speed is at 13 and Concentration is at 11. Any suggestions about stat distribution? Pretty soon I'm gonna make a run for Bordertown to expand my skill repetoire... Decent weapon skills and Alchemy will both be very handy. I've also been rerolling loot to build some skills training cash; I currently have about 3k, so I can afford 5 ranks in a combat skill and Alchemy. Hopefully by the time I get there I'll have a little more so I can avoid going broke when I train em

It has been checked, and (hopefuly) will be fixed via patch.Maelstrom wrote: That's funny. I seem to recall it working just fine and then finding a book of shadows. Maybe it was the other way round?
If you are going for min/max don't increase your Int/Wis. You can find items that boost those. The only time you need those two stats is when you read a spell scroll.
I'm not sure how high your End is, but I would prioritize that over Str/Dex. Both can be raised a lot with spells. I wouldn't bother with Dex at all. Just use the spell if you need a boost. When you have End as high as you want it, I like 30-40, then focus on Str. Carry weight is handy and it also lets you wear decent gloves and a shield while still casting in combat without swapping gear.

Krafen- thanks for the tips. I'm level 7 now and made it to Bordertown and Blackwater, so I have some skills now
I got Alchemy to 5 by trainer, 7 by book, 9 by spending points. With 2 rings I can max it for potions and imbuing.
I got Swords to 5 by trainer, 7 by book. I haven't yet decided which weapon skill to invest further points in, but I'll use swords for now.
I got Divination to 5 by trainer. Where is the Elemental trainer?
My plan for the next few levels is to beef up End a bit (from 20 to 30 or so), then work on Strength. I'm tempted to get a little more Concentration; I fizzle a lot when surrounded. As for skills, I'll get my casting skills to 20. Other than that, I'm not sure what to invest my points in. Should I plan to dump a ton into one weapon skill for damage output? What other skills are worthy of points?

He's in a building by itself in the lower SE corner (in Blackwater), talks about the Mage Guild, separated from Shadowmirk now. Sells things too.solistus wrote: I got Divination to 5 by trainer. Where is the Elemental trainer?

Then I must have gotten the book first. Couldn't remember if I had happened upon the book before the cloak or not.Daemian Lucifer wrote:It has been checked, and (hopefuly) will be fixed via patch.Maelstrom wrote: That's funny. Either way, I've still got "4" ranks in hiding and have pretty much embraced the night.
