Animals

Post by King_ov_Death »

I'd like to see wild animals in Book II, i.e.: you are wandering through a desert and you find camels or something like that...
Some animals will attack you, but others will not.

What do you think?

I think its a good idea man , camels dont attack unless u attack it, it follows u to kick ur *** hehehe , but wild animals like a lion and coule of lionesses start following u so u should kill a pray so they go to the prey and leave u alone, and some jakals dont hurt they dont attack u if they were less than 3 (cowards) how about that.

-I was thinking more of random typical animals you would find.

-Like he said: desert - camel. AI of a NPC.

-Might be cool to see something in the water that swims towards shore and attacks.

Or just a fish jumping in the water. Humm..wonder if nets used to catch fish or entangle enemies would be a good 'weapon'?? :D After all, if food is going to be needed (if turned on)..why not go fishing?

ur pritty right about that fishing might be a good idea , mabe while fishing the heroe looses some item due to the fast waterflow in some kind of rough river hehehe might be a good quest to run to the end of the river to return the lost item, mabe some fisher happened to him and he s afraid of retreiving(exmple amulate) because theres a nasty animal down there

how about hunting

some deers would be nice ,they run away fast

some wild boars , bears , wolves

(where the heck are the normal animals) i should sentence u for a life time , since the zoo in my town the animals there r angry !!!!!!

How about tiny animals. Like some areas (bogs, swamps) have heavy amounts of mosquitos. You can have a potion to buy for that (mosquito repellant) or create it as an alchemical reaction.

Tons of mosquito bites can lower you health and maybe a 1% chance of getting malaria or something haha (affected by what armour you are wearing, etc).

Perhaps they could be added, but as decorative elements (i.e.: a dragonfly flying past you in a forest, or something like that); although I like zetetic0void's idea too.

-I was thinking more just...Random animals scattered in regions where you'de find them. Neutral creatures that only attack if you attack them. Otherwise they just..Do nothing. lol.

Perhaps. A good idea, too.

Mmmmm... that makes me think.
What if your character is starving, and you're in the middle of nowhere (caves or desert). What would be there be to scavenge? Could you get meat from that camel's carcass? Could you eat a cave bat? Or could you nab an apple from a tree (a clickable tree would be nice). And fishing, can that be implemented? (a clickable spot in water with fish + luck roll with fish rod)

It would make more sense to get meat from slayed beasts than having them spew out coins and health potions (à la Diablo II).
My swords may be sharp, but so are my wits. I will first draw them and many think I never draw my blades; they are mistaken. It is because none have ever seen them ALIVE... because of my firey breath of course -The legendary Dragon Samurai

I think I'll make a similar topic when Book III starts to be developed, as (in my opinion) it's now too late to try and introduce animals into Book II.

Will there be an option for catching lime disease?

Or allergies?

Actually... I take that back. Allergies and lime disease would add nothing good to Eschalon.

...But I agree it might be cool to occasionally or frequently run into wild animals (other than bees, ahem) who might or might not attack you based on whether or not they're starving to death or whether or not you're encroaching on their territory or their young or whether or not you're making threatening motions (and whether or not they can sense that you're good or evil).

In NWN, call me crazy, but: I sort of liked it when, at one point, deer started attacking me. It was interesting. I mean . . . deer just don't attack people. Or elves. Ever.

EDIT: I know, I know: elves are people, too. Understand: I like elves. They're nice and skinny, which is comforting.

On that note: I don't know why all the playable human men in NWN have to look like Mr. Universe. It's ludicrous. I mean . . . really. I don't look like Mr. Universe.

...But, nevermind. Back to Eschalon... .
Certainty: a character-driven, literary, turn-based mini-CRPG in which Vasek, legendary "Wandering Philosopher", seeks certainties in a cryptically insular, organic, critically layered city.
