Ah, I thought that was as designed. I had assumed you needed to move a bit in order to hide. If you move 2 squares after you extinguish your torch you should start hiding again.

1. Yes - the Plate looks cooler. My first (and only for now) character with whom I won the game was in full (almost) Adamantine Plate Set and he looked really cool - very shiny and with some golden elements.
