Book Zero Update

posted in: News 11

Okay, we thought we’d better post a disclaimer for the three of you that emailed us (and those who didn’t) who were very upset that we decided to turn the Eschalon series into a JRPG clone. It was a joke, for all of you April fools. Thanks much to Inverse Phase for the cool chiptune of the Eschalon theme.

I know that this silly tradition has been in existence for a long while, but lying to people is a poor “joke” and some will not get it. 🙂

I have the same opinion as Brorsook. Lying is not a good joke.
Their is nothing wrong with being funny or telling jokes but April Fools has simply degraded to lying, which is almost never funny and simply wrong even if done in the name of comedy.

It also serves to negate real news, real things do happen on April first and yet enough people lie in a convincing enough manner that people cannot tell the difference from a lie and a real article on April first.

So to everyone who likes to participate in April Fools by posting lies, at least think about including a disclaimer at the end of your articles stating that the preceding was a joke (so you still get to trick people, but they don’t leave your page believing a falsehood).

Note the preceding comment was not particularly aimed at this site just the general idea of April Fools as handled by the Internet.

And those people are “fools,” as the name of the holiday clearly indicates.

Please don’t feel bad some people don’t have a sense of humor. I thought it was funny and blatantly obvious. The 512 generated tiles of open nothingness and terrible grammar gave it away. If you couldn’t tell from that you probably shouldn’t be playing Eschalon.

I wonder what it’s like to go through life so humorless and gullible.

pity, i think there are too few good new jrpgs. i hate the fact that most of them have pseudo-realtime battle. that’s also something i did not enjoy in some critically acclaimed western rpgs (e.g. baldur’s gate and dragon age). for me, it has to be either realtime or turnbased, i can’t stand mixtures.
